Q4 2020 U.S. Performance of Top Android Sandbox Games

In the fourth quarter of 2020, the sandbox game category continued to captivate Android users in the United States. Sensor Tower provided a detailed performance analysis of the top five sandbox games, which includes Roblox, Minecraft, IMVU: Social Chat & Avatar app, Avakin Life - 3D Virtual World, and The Sims™ FreePlay.

Roblox showed impressive figures, with weekly revenue peaking at $5.9M in late December. Downloads also saw a high of 287K in the same period, while weekly active users reached a peak of 8.8M towards the end of November.

Minecraft's performance was notable with a revenue high of over $500K in the last week of December. The game maintained a consistent download rate, with a peak at 45K, and saw its weekly active users surge to 2.2M in the week of November 23rd.

The IMVU: Social Chat & Avatar app experienced a steady revenue stream, with the highest being close to $200K in late December. Downloads for the app peaked at 33K in the final week of December, while active users showed a modest increase, ending the quarter with 221K weekly active users.

Avakin Life - 3D Virtual World saw its revenue reach just over $100K in the final weeks of December. Downloads peaked at 28K, and the game maintained a consistent base of weekly active users, ending the quarter with approximately 93K.

Lastly, The Sims™ FreePlay, while not revealing a release date, had its revenue peak at $132K in the last week of December. The game's downloads reached a high of 28K in the same period, and active users saw a slight increase, finishing the quarter with over 72K weekly active users.
